I got to Blossom Music Center at 4:20pm *L* right when Atreyu took the stage. Kristin and I walked around for a bit and bought some merch from various venders before heading towards the main stage. We stood around and talked for a while before getting in line to go in. We got our wrist bands and headed down to the pit where we ended up in the front row.
At around 5:20pm Street Drum Corps took the stage and they were amazing. They were followed by Ashes Divide, The Bravery, and Chris Cornell. During Chris Cornell's performance I happened to look towards the backstage area which was a perfect view from where I was standing and I happened to see Chester and Talinda. A few minutes passed before he stepped out on stage to help Chris with the song Hunger Strike. Chris finished up around 8:50pm and we watched as the roadies set up the stage for LP.
Then finally the banner started to rise as Street Drum Corps came back on stage and started the show. As they were playing I saw Joe get on stage followed by each of the guys where the played this really kick ass intro that sounded like it may have been japanese influenced but it rocked. There was a big climax before you could only hear Mike playing the intro to What I've Done. WID was followed by Faint with an extended outro. Next was No More Sorrow with an extended intro. Brad totally started early but quickly fixed his mistake. The drums were amazing in it and I was lucky to take my eyes off of Rob during it to take pictures but I did.
Next was Wake 2.0. It took me forever to figure out what it was but once they got into it I instantly knew what it was and that Given Up was up next. Chester started it with the claps which was quickly followed by the crowd. Chester didn't do the full 17.5 second scream, he took a breath half way through but it was still loud and raw and I loved it. Then was Lying From You and In Pieces which I loved. One of my best friends told me "If they play In Pieces you better call me so I can hear it." well I did and she was actually able to hear it. The guitar solo was amazing as usual. Somewhere I Belong started immediatly after In Pieces and was the album version. After SIB the Mike took center stage with Petrified before slamming into Points Of Authority and ending with There They Go.
Chester waited until Mike sat down at the piano to say "Give it up for Mike f**king Shinoda." Mike chuckled and said that f**king was now his middle name then went on to talk to the crowd for a couple minutes about MTM and that they were about to play Leave Out All The Rest. He also talked about how after Projekt Rev finished they'll be going to China in October then coming back to the US to go into the studio to start working on their next album. He sounded kinda bummed that they didn't have any new material to play for us. Once he was done cell phones and cigarette lighters went into the air as they began to play LOATR. Next came Numb and Shadow Of The Day.
I was so excited for SOD just cuz I wanted to see Chester play the guitar at the end of the song and he did. I took some pics but they came out blurry, just like most of the ones I took. If I hadn't been getting bumped into so much and what not they probably would've come out better.
Next up was the reanimation version of Crawling with Hands Held High over it. Mike did so amazing with HHH then they went into the album version of Crawling. Chris Cornell came back out and sang the second version and finished out the song with the band. I did manage to get a half way decent pic of him hugging Chester when he came out to sing. Crawling was immeditaly followed by In The End which just happens to be one of my favorite songs (What I've Done being my favorite).
After ITE they talked to the crowd for about a minute and I remember looking up just as Rob picked up the tamborine so I knew Bleed It Out was up next. Rob did his drum solo which seemed never ending but I wasn't complaining. I just couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was banging the drums so hard I was just waiting for them to fall over. After BIO everyone left the stage for their first encore break. After about five minutes Mike and Chester came back out on stage where they did the piano version of Pushing Me Away which was amazing, it was followed by Breaking The Habit with a short extended intro. They took another break and when the lights went down Joe took the stage for Cure 4 The Itch. SDC came back out with the rest of the band to end the night with One Step Closer.
All in all I would go back in a second and I'm totally kicking myself for not taking any videos or buying the Digital Souvinor Pack when I bought my tickets. I'm hoping someone got it and will upload it to get off of lplive. Linkin Park is amazing live and it was so great to be able to be that close to them. After they were done they were throwing stuff out into the crowd and I was lucky enough to get a Ve'Cel sticker/coupon that Chester through out into the crowd.
